In January 2016, ABLIC became independent of Seiko Instruments Inc., and it has been operating as a maker of analog semiconductors under its current name since January 2018. ABLIC began in-house development and fabrication of CMOS ICs in 1970, based on the production of the world’s first practical quartz watches in which CMOS ICs were incorporated. Since then, while continuing to provide small, low-power consumption, and accurate analog semiconductor products, not only for watches, but also for a wide range of consumer, mobile, automotive devices and medical equipment, ABLIC have been making great efforts to bring about innovations in ABLIC's in-house technology. ABLIC is a coined word combining ABLE (possible) and IC (short for “integrated circuit”), expressing that semiconductor technology enables possibilities.

ABLIC's logo consists of an upwards arrow, representing growth, combined with a diamond, representing integrated circuits, which together form an “A”, the first letter of the company name. This, as a whole, expresses ABLIC's corporate vision of striving to help society grow through semiconductor technology.
ABLIC are a vertically integrated analog semiconductor maker, capable of in-house production from circuit design to manufacturing. ABLIC create innovative products that accurately address various potential market needs, and ABLIC's strength lies in ABLIC's ability to provide meticulous and comprehensive response to a wide range of customer’s different requests. ABLIC consistently present new value by providing ABLIC's customers with solutions that open a path to the future, ranging from the development of components to the designing of circuits, testing, and development of packages.
ABLIC Vision:
The origin of ABLIC's products lies in the development of CMOS ICs for quartz watches. ABLIC downsized quartz mechanisms from the size of a locker to something small enough to be worn on a wrist, and succeeded in bringing to production analog semiconductors that function accurately while using only a minute amount of energy. The safe and reliable leading-edge technology cultivated through ABLIC's research and manufacturing is seeing increasing utilization in the latest key devices, including those for automobiles, smartphones, and healthcare.
